“Eyes on the Globe” started along with the webzine “Nature Net” was first issued in 1997. We have piled up images our reporters sent with captions from different regions for more than 10 years.

At the beginning, digital cameras were not very common, they were just alternatives of film ones. Reporters at that time seemed to take time to find a right moment to release the shutter.

Gradually, digital cameras came into wide use and photography itself became casual because of the portability. Some reporters take pictures even on the way to work places. At the same time, reporters’ skill has advanced making full use of them, we get more complicated pictures such as macro photography of flowers, the setting sun and night view. Images of digital cameras are checked instantly, unsatisfying images are deleted any time on the moment, such merits automatically changed our reporters’ photography.

Now, quite a few picture files have accumulated in front of us. Reporters are not necessarily professionals and the reporting areas rather cluster on Japan although this site is titled “Eyes on the Globe”. However, when watching the database of pictures, we feel that we finally acquired the power to persuade viewers that the earth and nature are indeed beautiful.

This is the third renewal and it aims an extensive remodeling for the purpose to satisfy our viewers with smoother browse of pictures sent by our reporters from different places.
